How are You?
I have a rather personal question to ask of you since you are intimately versed in Kissi culture. I'm an american who has read that the "gichee" of the carolina's (usa) are descendents of the Kissi of Sierra Leone. Any insight or comments? Thnx

Hi Roz,

I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to your question at my website. It is because of the hectic studies as I continue to pursue a PhD in Criminal Justice.
Frankly speaking, when I was a student in Sierra Leone, I saw groups of African Americans come to that country and they visit the Bonth Island, where the slaves were brought, and ready to be transported abroad in wooden ships. I believe that people of North and South Carolinas are part of Sierra Leone and especially of the Kissi. Try to get my book on the Kissi, IDOLS WITH TEARS from Authorhouse/ USA, and read it. You will know that before Christianity and the Islamic religions penetrated the forested areas of Kissi land, the Kissi lived uniquely with their culture, and they knew that there was a God.
I will be glad to further discussions of any topic on interest about the Kissi. I am also publishing a book titled THE GHOSTS OF NGAINGAH, a true story about the singing ghosts in Ngaingah village in the Kissi chiefdom in northeastern Sierra Leone where the ghosts sang to the living in the 1940s. The books is being published in India, and it will soon be out for distribution.
Thanks,
Michael F. Kallon
